The last week.

We're keeping ourselves busy around here lately, which is just the way Mommy and the girls like it. Its finally starting to feel like summer on a regular basis, so Kaylee has been requesting weather appropriate snacks. And well, we decided to let Rowan have her first taste of an ice pop too.
She liked it.
We went to an outdoor gathering with the MOMS Club and lo-and-behold, Kaylee actually eventually got in the water!
We had a playdate at our friends, the Krovis house. I didn't snag any picks of Kaylee with Sumana, but this one is cute of Rowan and Nitin.
I know you can't tell from the picture but Rowan loved this car so much, she had a great time being wheeled around the house.
Then on Thursday we got together with more friends. Again no picks of Kaylee and Nevaeh (it just wasn't a heavy Kaylee-photo week) but this is cute of Rowan and Jordan. Most of my friends that have kids that line up with my own had boys on their second round--so most of Rowan's baby friends are boys: Jordan, Nitin, Oliver, Harrison, Zac, Sam; well at least she has Alexis.
Not nearly as shy as Kaylee, Nevaeh got in for a shot with her brother and Rowan...and all 3 are looking! Will wonders never cease?
Yesterday morning, Kaylee wanted to read to Rowan so I tried to snap a few photos.
Rowan was looking.
And then Kaylee was looking.
When I finally managed to get them both to look, Kaylee managed to look drunk again.
Not a great photo, but I love the sentiment!
And that's pretty much been our week!

What a Busy Day!

We had a lot to do today, and it had a gorgeous day to do it in. First we headed out to a local block party to check out the festivities. Kaylee really liked her Blue Balloon Bunny (say that 5 times fast.)She carried it around almost the whole time, and we're still trying to figure out how exactly to make it disappear.
We got a Rowan a flower balloon, and while she wasn't nearly as into her toy as Kaylee was, she still enjoyed it and wasn't scared at all when her little teeth popped one of the petals. Too brave for her own good, I tell you.
Kaylee did an amazing job staying still while getting her face painted.
she chose a blue and pink flower and a blue balloon. (Do you sense a color theme for today?) Oh and Mommy got her hair chopped off.
Rowan was just chillin', taking it all in.
Kaylee enjoyed a snow cone while waiting for some music to start.
And finally after about 2o minutes of watching and waiting she finally ventured into the bouncy house...
of course having her friends Jordyn and Emma with her probably helped.
Even after her friends had left--Kaylee enjoyed a few more bounces.
Check out that height!
Then after a very brief respite, we headed over to our friend Oliver's 1st birthday party.
While Kaylee played Oliver a birthday song on a make-shift song, Rowan celebrated by just being cute.
While Rowan was outside with Daddy I took this picture through the window looking at Kaylee.
I swear I thought it was a carrot, but then I realized I hadn't seen any carrots out...low and behold it was a crayon! Nice.
Clearly she was hungry, so it was time for some cake.
Rowan didn't have any cake but she donned a celebratory hat,
and if you know Rowan, that's quite a feat indeed, she must really like her friend Oliver.
Emily wasted no time enjoying her brother's birthday cake.
Oliver, however, was tentative at first.
He took his time, savoring the taste.
But once he got into, he didn't stop!
But eventually the flashbulbs embarrassed him, poor little guy!
Happy Birthday Oliver!!

Quick post

Just a few pics I thought were blog-worthy. The other day, with Daddy's help, I really tried to get a good picture of both girls together that I could use for their birthday party invitation... I didn't really love any of them, but they are still cute. How can they not be with the subject matter, right?
I love this, I finally got a close up of Kaylee where she is not squinting and doesn't look like she's high.
We went to the beach on Monday with the MOMS Club. You can see what Rowan thought about that!
Kaylee had a good time in the water though.
We have an amazing toddler. Not only does she not argue when I make her wear her life jacket which is anytime the kids outnumber the adults present in our party, but she listens, and is careful and shares her toys that she brought from home. I love our little Monkey.
We went back to the beach today with Grammy and Grampy. I love this shot, I am going to zoom in and crop it as it is a genuinely good picture of Kaylee.
Rowan prefers to hang out on the beach as opposed to in the water.
Here again, I tried to catch a picture of both of them for the invitation and while I love the subject matter, the picture leaves something to be desired.
Rowan ventured into the water for a little while with Grammy.
And Kaylee got her first sand-castle-building lessons from Grampy. What a great day!
And that's pretty much it so far in August.

The Maine Event 2009

Every July in recent memory and for the foreseeable future, we head up to Maine for at least the day to see a big portion of Daddy's extended family. What passes for a beach up there is not what one (or at least I) would really consider a beach, so Kaylee is on the 'watch only' list for now. But it was still nice to sit on the rocks by the ocean and watch the boats and some of the older cousins swimming. This is cousin Lauren's cat: Emma. I am not usually all that into cats, I mean its not that I dislike them, its just that I like them as other people's pets...but Emma was gorgeous.
And I usually don't toot my own horn about photography...but I think this is a fabulous picture. It probably helped that Emma was a photogenic cat.
Kaylee loved both Emma and Gary (here) and if her attention is any indication I fear I may one day have to count myself in the cat owner column.
Although I am still holding out hope that she prefers dogs but since she has two of those the novelty of cats is much bigger. That does not change how much Kaylee was following poor Gary and Emma around though.
While Kaylee chased the cats inside...Rowan and Daddy got some hammock time outside.
Rowan really liked it.
Rowan got some good bonding time in with Bampa too.
And got to show off her mad 'almost walking' skills.
Eventually it all just got to be too much and she took a little snooze in the stroller...at least this proves she can do it which bodes well for our Disney trip in 6 weeks!
Rowan and cousin Sam(antha.)
Rowan and cousin Lauren. Lauren and Sam are twins.
Kaylee dancing through the smoke of the campfire.
Kaylee and cousin Sam dance through the campfire smoke.
They did a lot of dancing to the music in their heads.
Kaylee and cousin Graham got to toss around the old pigskin.
And then they enjoyed some tickle-time with cousin Hans in the hammock.
Here's Kaylee jammin' to cousin Josh's sweet tunes.
He even let her try to strum a few notes.
An impromptu campfire sing-a-long.
The theme of this year's reunion was Christmas in July, complete with handmade gifts for a silly Yankee Swap.
Rowan and Daddy watched
as Bampa and Kaylee picked out their gift.
And this has nothing to do with Maine...but I thought it was cute, and yet not deserving of its own post.
Rowan is crawling now by the way...but she doesn't like it...she much prefers walking which she just can't quite do by herself yet.
And that, as they say, is that.
