A wedding in the country

So, on Friday July 13th, we packed up our little bundle of joy and headed basically about as far north in NH as you can get. And I do mean that...it was practically a different world, no cell service, no fast food, no movie theater within a half hour drive (the closest was almost an hour and had only one screening room showing only one movie).
Anyway...Grant's childhood friend Bill was getting married at a beautiful outdoor ceremony on his family's sprawling property near Colebrook.
Kaylee had a wonderful time and she got to see all of Grant's family was there as they were all family friends of the Bakers and thus in attendance.
Here she is at the ceremony awaiting the bride's appearance with Auntie Abbie, while G-Pa looks on. Abbie came up with G-Pa as a name for Grandpa Ron and I really like it so I am going to continue to call him that and hope that it sticks for Kaylee.
After the ceremony we did a quick photo shoot with Groomsman Daddy. He cleans up pretty well don't you think?
Here is Daddy in a thoughtful moment, perhaps reflecting on the ceremony? Probably not, I believe he was deciding between Corona and Coors. As a fashion note, Kaylee's dress was provided by Mommy's former co-worker Deb. I had been saving it for the wedding and I am so glad I did...it was beautiful. Thanks again Deb.
Before the new Mr. and Mrs. Baker were announced into the reception area, Kaylee had an important phone call to make.
At our table we met one of Kim's (the bride) cousins, 4 year old Joe. Kaylee was quite taken with him...as he was with her.

He asked if she could come out and play in the yard with him...but seeing as she can't yet walk (or crawl) I had to decline. However, as you can see she was becoming quite smitten.
Here you see Daddy contemplating his future shot-gun license. If her behaviot with Joe is any indication, we are in for a world of hurt when it comes to boys in the future.
Believe it or not, I only put a few of the pictures taken of her and Joe on the blog...I have many more for the archive/scrapbook. Everyone please take a moment and put a small prayer in your head for poor Daddy. He was having a hard time with just the innocent baby flirting we had here...can you imagine what he's in for later?
And lucky us, we got a picture of our little girl (now in her PJs because we were going to be leaving shortly) with the groom, Bill.
The wedding was beautiful. All in all, Kaylee behaved amazingly. She spoke out just a few times during the ceremony but in a cute way that the bride/groom probably could not hear and the surrounding attendees thought endearing. She also remained not so cranky even a full hour past her bedtime allowing us to enjoy the festivities a little longer than we thought! She is an amazing baby!

Fun with camera settings!
Yesterday, when Petra clambered up into the chair behind Kaylee I thought it merrited a photo...however, (not surprisingly) by the time I got the camera, my photo opportunity was almost over. And of course, I wanted to see what it would have looked like if I had taken the picture 100 years ago (pay no attention to the laptop in the background.)
And of course back in the 21st century...
Well until they fix the title bar issue, I am not posting anymore. But those pictures should hold y'all over for a while!

July 4th! (What is with my inability to put a title to my posts now?)
Anyway, on the 4th of July we packed up and went down to Grammy and Grampy's house. Kaylee wore her festive red, white and blue redsox dress. Daddy, you can see wasn't as patriotic. But I liked this picture as it fortold the future...Daddy on his computer, Kaylee on the phone!
Kaylee is already making lots of expensive phone calls..."Hello Hong Kong?"
We got to see Auntie Diana before she returned to NY. Diana entertained Kaylee with some good ol' harmonica playing. "What is that you have in your mouth Auntie?" asked Kaylee.
"Hmmmm, its making really weird noises. Perhaps you had better let me take a look at that."
"Well everything seems in order...continue to entertain me!"
It is rather sad that those pics were the best (and only) pictures I managed to snap of Kaylee and my sister...but hey, its certainly better than nothing!

Little Big People Food
(Ok something's wrong...I can't make a title to this post...oh well, this was Monday July 2nd)
Anyway...Kaylee has progressed to yet another stage in "Adventures in Eating."
For breakfast she is now getting cut up fruit (as opposed to stuff I have to puree--huzzah!)
She really loves strawberries, as you can see.
She'll eat bananas in a pinch, but she seems to be a strawberry girl. We've also tried cut up blueberries which were met with a luke warm reception and raspberries which were mostly thrown off the tray to the circling sharks (erm I mean dogs.)
Later that same day I made the mistake of getting up to get a paper towel while leaving Kaylee's lunch, in this case ground peas, chicken and brown rice on Kaylee's tray. Well needless to say that in less than 2 seconds, it became finger food.
I told her she should use a spoon...so she looked at the spoon and weighed her options.
"No Mommy," she said, "it's definately finger food."
Well she managed to get some of it into her mouth anyway.

Bocce Barbecue!

So yesterday Kaylee decided to have a few guests over. Since her great Auntie Lynn and Uncle Mike were leaving to go home to the Seattle area the next day, she wanted to see them off in style and decided to throw a little barbecue for her family. In attendance: Auntie Lynn, Uncle Mike, Grampy, Auntie Jacqueline, Great-Grandma Chip, Bob, Pookie, and her friend Bailey and her mother Shana (though there's no photo proof of those last 2) and of course Mommy and Daddy.
After we had the good eats: salad, fruit salad, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage and cookies (Mommy was busy that morning) we decided to play that family favorite: Bocce Ball. And we definately have the yard for it, lots of hilly terrain just to make it interesting.
And of course, its the most fun when everyone plays at the same time, no use letting people get good at it, one ball for everyone!
You can see that Auntie Lynn was really getting into it, although Daddy and Grampy seem to be interested in the patterns on the balls.
And Mommy couldn't resist making everyone do a stupid pose...I mean what is Bocce without everyone being silly anyway?
Look Auntie Lynn managed to take a picture with Mommy that Mommy actually likes!

Kaylee was kind of fussy the whole week when Mike and Lynn were here, she is going through a very Mommy phase right now...but she did finally manage to let Mike hold her on the very last day, if only for a moment!
And what could Kaylee be so happy about now that we went inside to have some cookies?

Why its the fact that she decided to let Auntie Lynn hold her for a moment before she left! OK, maybe that's not what she was happy about...but I figured I had to try!
Oh! This is what she must be happy about, we decided to let the expert golfer (Uncle Mike) show us how it was done with Wii Golf! Even Daddy got into the swing of things! (nyut nyut nyut)
You can see the rest of the crowd was absolutely rivited by this rousing round of golf. Its almost as exciting as watching the real thing (please understand the voice in my head that narrates as I type is dripping with sarcasm here.)
Oh yeah, and on Friday, June 29th we went down to Grammy and Grampy's to have some good nosh there and besides the attendees above, add to the list: Auntie Diana, Cousins Don and Beth and Auntie Jackie's hubby Darren!
Woot! I am doing well so far for a Monday morning, I wonder what this week will have in store.

swimming!

"So Mommy, what are we going to do today?" asked Kaylee ever so politely.
"Well," I replied, "since we got your bathing suit and sunscreen on, I thought we'd try out your kiddle pool."
"Really!!!" exclaimed Kaylee excitedly. "That sounds like fun, I love baths, I bet the pool will be great."
"Well it might be a little chilly," Mommy said.
"Let's give it a try."
After a few timid moments of thinking this wasn't such a great idea, Kaylee splashed around for 5 or 6 minutes and seemed to rather enjoy herself in her big green pool.
"This is a lot more water than a bath Mommy," Kaylee mused. "But I know I'll be ok as long as I'm with you."
So that was today's adventure. We finally had a swim in our pool!

Ribfest--June 24th

On Sunday, our neighbors, Shana and Casey had tickets to Ribfest in Merrimack, NH. So they packed up their 9 month old, Bailey and we packed up our 9 month old, Kaylee and off we went. (Oh we packed also packed up Mike, because he was here too!)
We all had fun tasting all kinds of world famous barbecue and rib recipes. I think the boys enjoyed themselves more than us girls; but it was still a hoot!
Kaylee and Bailey held hands a few times but mostly just interacted from their strollers as it was warm out and we just wanted them to be comfy. But they still smiled and babbled at one another, quite cute as usual.
We also took in an arial show which was quite fun, I'd never seen one before...and neither had Kaylee:)
