boat, yes. water, no.

Wednesday is my morning to work in the gym's childcare room. Its a long morning for Kaylee and sometimes I do feel bad, but I think in the end its definately worth it; especially on days where she has lots of fun there. Yesterday, she dragged out the tugboat to take a nice relaxing sail around the classroom...
She had fun, took in the sights. She particularly liked Coloring Book Island and The Library Canal. Boy the whole room looks different when you see it from a boat.
Uh-oh...what's that, a seamonster?
For a moment it looks like our little seafarer might be in trouble!
Then Kaylee remembered she had a boat to use as a weapon and made short work of that seamonster.
What an exciting adventure!

Thanksgiving means family (and a few more pics)

OK, its been almost 2 weeks, so lets get cracking!
Today we traveled to Grammy and Grampy's house, since we didn't get to see that side of the family on Thanksgiving...Kaylee arrived looking all dapper and cheery.
She made a few phone calls, to Great-Grandma Mitzi and perhaps Hong Kong.
And then Grammy and Grampy decided it was time for Kaylee to start earning her keep; so they put her to work.
Kaylee didn't complain, she is very industrious after all.
She even gives cleaning service with a smile.
After the floor was swept to her satisfaction Kaylee wanted to take in some culture, so she decided to find out if she was a piano prodigy.
Maybe not! But it was fun anyway.
I insisted on a photo shoot with Aunties Diana and Jacqueline as I have very few (if any) good pics of them with their niece. But I managed to get a few today that should last a little while, especially if I can wrangle a few more on Christmas.
Here's Kaylee with Auntie Diana.
And now with Auntie Jacqueline--hmmm, Jackie has her coat on her, was she in a hurry to get out?
I even managed a couple of shots of Kaylee with both aunties.
And a goofy one!
Here's Kaylee in her Thanksgiving finest! Isn't she oh so chic with her leopard print?! It's all the rage this year according to Modern Baby Magazine.
Thanksgiving day is with Daddy's side of the family and G-Pa Ron wasted no time snatching some Kaylee-time.
Kaylee got to meet her newest cousin as well, just a few months younger than her is James.
And here are a few pictures from playgroup held the Tuesday before Thanksgiving:
Here's Madison.
Here's Isabella (or just Bella). (Missing in photos are Emily and Henry)
Kaylee got to play with a tunnel that day, she had lots of fun trying to figure which was up in that thing.
But she managed to get out eventually, smart cookie that she is.
So that's my latest update. I promise I'll get back to taking more pictures and posting more promptly--well, I promise I'll try anyway! Happy Thanksgiving!

Another Week in Review

Gosh remember when I used to be good about updating every few days? Yeah not so much these days...but here's the past week (more or less.)
Today Grammy and Grampy visited, so we called Jackie and Emily to come over and grab some free babysitting while we did a little bit of scrapbooking.
Grampy's famous "buuk in a box" routine has jumped generations...and here we have 2 buuks, in a box.
Then it was Kaylee's turn to be the solo buuk in the box.
And then it was Emily's...
And then it was time for some "rough seas" ... in a box. The only reason we even buy toys anymore is for the hours of enjoyment the boxes bring. Yup...that's right, its cold in New England, and I have broken out the winter-wear for Kaylee. I think she looks so cute all bundled up...I just had to share it with you.
And again!
"Alright, Mommy," Kaylee said, "You put this on me because you said I'd be cold outside, but you're spending so much time taking my picture that I am starting to overheat inside!"
The box pictures above is a result of this little purchase courtesy of Kaylee's great-grandmother. We now have a Kaylee-sized table, perfect for snacks and coloring and all sorts of fun things.
As of now, Kaylee can get out of her chair, but can't quite get into it, so when she wants to sit down at her table she goes over and bangs on the seat of a chair until I lift her into it. Charming, yes?
On Friday, after hitting the gym, we headed over to Jackie and Emily's house. Now that they are back from Florida/New Jersey Kaylee and Emily couldn't wait to catch up.
"Look Kaylee, I still have my birthday balloon, isn't it cool!?" exclaimed Emily.
"Can't you see I am trying to drink my milk?" Kaylee said.
"Mommmmmmmmmmmmmmmy," Kaylee wailed, "All I want is to drink my milk in peace."
I told her that Emily just wanted to play and she could continue to drink her milk.
Although...Emily looks like she has something else in mind...
"See I told you she won't let me drink my milk in peace," Kaylee mumbled.
And last but not least...one final cute picture of some pigtails!
And that's all I have to say about that.

new hairstyles, and the last halloween pics

Kaylee's hair is finally long enough to put in tiny little pigtails. And she even leaves them in...although the elastics generally fall out over time since her hair is so fine. But I do love the pigtails, and she even modeled a bit for me this morning.

Here the pigtails were a little higher on her head...

Here, I didn't even manage to get the pigtails in the frame, but I thought the expression was cute anyway...I think she was tired of having flash-happy mommy in her face.

Yesterday, Grammy and Grampy visited. Kaylee instructed Grampy to read her some stories and he happily obliged.

OK, here are the the last of the Halloween pics. We got our little princess decked out one more time to help us hand out candy. Here, Princess Kaylee surveys the vittles to be given to her subjects.
She seems satisfied with the offering...perhaps a little too satisfied.
And while she thought we weren't looking, she tried to pilfer a few for herself!
But Daddy caught her in the act.
Kaylee had a great halloween and really liked looking at the costumes of the other trick or treaters. That's all for now.
