Farmland!

Sorry its taken me a while to get some pictures up. I've been having some technical difficulties. To be honest, I am not sure how they got resolved, but I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Also, this is the 2nd post I've put up today so make sure you scroll down. Hopefully my difficulties in uploading pictures is behind us now and I can get back to more timely updates.
Last Friday we headed off to Davis Farmland. Kaylee had so much fun, we were so glad we went. She started her trek by feeding some roaming brown sheep.
A good nickname for Davis Farmland could be: Goats Goats Goats Galore! There were so many goats everywhere and I took a ton of pictures, but I tried to just choose some of my favorites as with the trouble uploading, I didn't want to push my luck!
Kaylee got to feed all sorts of animals...like llamas, which she insisted were actually horses.
There were so many animals and again I am not going to put all the pics up, but I had never seen a white peacock before so I thought I'd share this one too.
There were a few roaming alpacas--this one was being kind of shy...which was actually ok with Kaylee.
Some goats were out and about with the public some were in pens...there was so much for Kaylee to do.
She spent a lot of time with this black cow--whose pen-partner was a water buffalo that Kaylee really liked as well.
Kaylee's favorite animal might have been the only fake one on the farm...
She spent a fair bit of time with ol' Bessie.
And she learned her first trade while she was at it.
And then it was back to the goats.
The baby ones really are super cute and they would literally crawl up into the chair with you if you let them.

Even Ro eventually had to get in on the action and see one of these little baby goats.
The picture makes it seem like she was nonplussed at best, but I assure you there were a few squeals of glee in there as well.
We can't wait to go back again, it was a great time.

Stuffs

Here is one of Kaylee's cuter ensembles. Her beautiful purple 'dancing dress' and orange t-shirt and Daddy's Red Sox cap.
Well, there's no accounting for fashion in my house!
Kaylee had her last gymnastics class, which was her recital. She got dressed up in her favorite gymnastics outfit.
She was very excited about the whole affair.
She got to do all of her favorite activities: the trampoline, the balance beam and the swing. And at the end all the little kids got a trophy to remind them of their achievements and the good times they had.
I don't know why I like this picture, but I do, so I thought I'd share.
Rowan has been on the move for a little while now...as long as she has some help, from someone's fingers...
or her hippopotamus walker.
For those that don't know, I couldn't be luckier with how good Kaylee is with Rowan. She comforts Ro when she's sad, plays with her and gives her more love than she can sometimes handle. For that, among many other things, I am blessed.

visiting Great Grandma!

On Thursday we went down to visit Great-Grandma Chip in her retirement village. Grandma was thrilled that Rowan warmed up to her so well and so quickly. They spent a lot of quality time together. I took a lot of pictures...but my grandmother just always manages to be making a face so this is the best we got.I even managed a little photo-shoot with both girls. This was no easy task...
...as Kaylee spent several hours exploring Grandma's small apartment and especially loved the balcony *gulp.*
We also set Kaylee to her first baking task this week. She made Daddy his favorite double chocolate chip cookies for Father's Day (or something like that.)
Kaylee had a lot of fun and did surprisingly well. I am not saying she did the whole thing, but her attention span was longer than I thought it would be.
And she didn't mind reaping the rewards of baking either. "Mmmmmm chocolate."

A visit to Grammy and Grampy's house!

On Sunday we went down to Grammy and Grampy's house to make sure Grampy got to see the girls before he headed off to the other hemisphere (today btw.) The weather was beautiful, so as we usually do when weather permits, we walked the 2 blocks to a cute little playground.
Rowan really loves this kind of swing...I wish I knew where we could buy one, she really does seem to like it more than the kind we have.
Perhaps its that she can lean forward to simulate standing which is, by far, her favorite activity.
Mommy and Daddy just sat back a relaxed for a few while the grand-parents took over entertaining duties.
I think everyone liked this arrangement.
Then we went back to the house for some BBQ. While the food was grilling...Kaylee found the fountain.
She was trying to help the bear statue catch his ever-elusive fish.
"Here let me show you," she said.
Here's Grammy and little Ro. I took a lot of pictures of this moment...and this is the only one where they were both looking at me. Take a guess as to whom it was harder to get to look at the camera!
After dinner...Grampy showed Rowan the hammock chair that they brought back from Nicaragua.
She liked it...anything that swings is probably going to get a positive reaction from Ro.
And then of course, Kaylee had to have a turn in the chair/swing too!
Thanks for a good time and good eats! Oh and bon voyage Grampy!

Kaylee's Other Wheels

I realize this doesn't make sense to you, as the "other" wheels is a bad pun/joke based on a post that I made earlier...but not so much earlier that most viewers probably won't have viewed it yet...however, since I am the author, I make the rules, so you'll just have to put up with it:) This is my 'not as nice as I could have put it way' of telling you there are more pictures if you keep going after this post!
Anyway...the wheels which I am now referring to...are Kaylee's new bicycle wheels. We got her a bike at a yard sale...complete with princess helmet and she sort of likes it. I say sort of because this whole peddling thing seems to be beyond her at this point.
Still...you have to learn sometime. So off we went.
She certainly likes the idea of the bike and often points out her ownership of it as we pass it in the basement on our way someplace else.
But with nice weather on the way again (hopefully) I think we'll give it another go.
Just so you know what Ro was doing while Daddy was giving Kaylee her first bike-riding lesson...she was being really cute in her stroller!
Kaylee's friend Nevaeh came over last Friday...it wasn't as nice as it could have been outside...still the girls played outside in Kaylee's sandbox.
They played really well together making sand castles and in general moving most of the sand from the sand part over to the water part.
Later that day when Daddy got home and the sun actually came out...Rowan got to enjoy the water end of the sand and water table too!
