Food Glorious Food

Kaylee has been quickly expanding her diet. So far she's tried Sweet Potato, Pears, Peas and Banans--and tomorrow she will begin carrots. The deal is...only introduce one new food and stick to that food for 3-4 days to determine any allergies. She vomitted quite a bit with the pears for a few days so we've dumped that from her diet. We will try them again in a few months to be sure, but who knows, maybe she's allergic to pears! One things for sure...this child loves to eat!

She definately prefers her oatmeal cereal and even her rice cereal to the fruits and veggies. Bananas seem to agree with her and sweet potatoes seem to pass her test as well. You should see the face she makes when we give her peas though!
Of course...sometimes we wonder where all the food really goes, down her throat or through the washing machine...
It's been a busy week actually. She seems to have a hard time hearing out of her right ear. We took her to the doctors yesterday, where our pediatrician recommended that we take her to a pediatric audiologist. He told us not to be concerned yet. It's possible that this is just a repricussion from the ear infection she had a few weeks ago, and in fact gave us a stronger prescription to make sure the infection is completely cleared up before we see the audiologist. So right now we're scheduled to see the audiologist April 20th.
Please keep your fingers crossed for us until then:)
Anyway, I think I hear the lil bundle of joy stirring from her nap, so I better rescue her!
ciao.

a visit

Ok, I am a little backlogged here, so I am going to try to catch up a bit!
last weekend (like I said, I am a little behind).
we packed our little Nissan full with 2 people, 1 infant, 2 dogs and all the things the infant and dogs need and headed up to Vermont to visit Grant's dad and his sister and her boyfriend.
Grant and his father got to ski-which was good because I know he's really been wanting to get some skiing in this season and with the unseasonably warm December and January...and the in fact that has taken over our lives, last week was the first opportunity we really had.
while we were there, we took a little side trip out to visit our friend, Andrew. I hadn't seen him since he graduated Tufts in 2001 (he was 1 year behind me and 2 years ahead of Grant.)
Anyway, he's married now to a wonderfully funny girl named Jen whose culinary skills are quite enviable. They also have a baby--a charming little 10 month old named Nate.
Below you can see their first few moments of meeting!
Nate is quite a cutie and was lots of fun to watch. He seemed quite taken with Kaylee--or at least her toys!
We were so busy meeting each other and catching up that I really didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked. I am sure I can still eek out a 1 page layout though. What can I say? Time flies when you're having fun.
And now here's Grant, Andrew and Nate. Can you believe Nate is only 4 months older than Kaylee, he seems so big--of course, in 4 months I'll look back at Kaylee's 6 month pictures and say "look how little she was!" They grow so damn quick!

And here is a pic of all 6 of us that I pilfered from Andrew. I like this one because Nate and Kaylee seem to be sharing an "inside joke" that is lost on us 'parental types.'
I somehow managed to not take any pics of Grant's father, sister or the not-so-technical 'uncle.' My scrapbooking friends will have me shot I am sure. I am usually better about making sure to take so many pictures that people threaten to take my camera away...but not this time I guess.

Anyway--I'll try to post again tomorrow to fill in about the rest of this week, but I am just trying to squeeze these posts in when I can. Ciao.

bug

I call her snugglebug, lovebug, ladybug...so obviously I had to buy something to prove it:
I can't wait to turn this into a scrapbook page!
A lot is going on...I have had very little time, so unfortunately this is all I have time for in terms of journaling. February was crazy, and March is gearing up to be even more frantic. Wish me luck.

Out of the Woods and Into the Woods

I suppose that title will only makes sense for those who know a few things about musical theater and that know that I was (and still am) a musical theater buff.
We're Out of the Woods because Kaylee is doing fantastic on her antibiotics. No fever, only a stray cough here and there, and a few sniffles which have far more to do with the weather than the sickness she had last week.
We're into the woods because its Friday and I am not at work. I have yet to work a full work week...and I won't next week either because I am taking next Friday off because of her 6 month appointment that's smack dab in the middle of the day and if I want to change it I'd have to wait several weeks. My boss sounded rather pissed...but what can I say? It was snowing this morning and now its freezing rain. On days that I have to bring her to Newburyport before going into work I am going to be even more discriminatory about what is and is not safe to drive in. Oh well, I am trying to not be angry about it, guilty about it, or anxious about it. It is what it is and that's all that can be done.
Anyway, this is one of my favorite new outfits for Kaylee. In part, because its not pink--hurray! Can you believe she's not even quite 6 months old yet and she's already in 12m clothing. Not all of course...she is mostly in 9m clothing...but she's starting on her 12m supply as well! Nothing 6 month has fit her since she was 4 months old. She's just so tall. She has quite a bit of her room in the girth, but she's stretching out the toes! I am only 5'2''--why is she so tall? I have a feeling she and Daddy will be talking over my head in no time:(
I am going to unload a bunch of pictures off of my camera today so I'll have more things to update with shortly! So that's it for now!
